To help you prepare effective visuals for your poster presentation, the Histiocyte Society provides the following guidelines:
Poster Viewing Round (Monday, September 19, 2022)
Authors must be present in front of their poster for the entire Poster Viewing Round to answer questions and give further information about their work. ALL poster authors are asked to submit a PDF of their poster to secretariat@histiocytesociety.org no later than Friday, September 2, 2022.
For Virtual Presenters
If you are presenting your poster virtually, please provide a PDF of your poster to secretariat@histiocytesociety.org no later than Friday, September 2, 2022. Please be sure to compare the time of the poster session with your own local time to ensure that you are available to present and answer questions virtually during our poster session. More information regarding how to use the platform and login at the appropriate time will be forthcoming.
Poster Presentation Exhibit Panels
Each presentation will be allocated one exhibit panel measuring 98cm wide x 198cm tall (3’2” wide x 6’5” tall), to be provided at the meeting. Pins and/or Velcro will be provided. Therefore all posters must be vertical in orientation.
General Poster Appearance
Authors should prepare their poster for presentation beforehand and bring it with them to the meeting. Each presentation must be one (1) single poster that can be easily mounted at each of its four corners. The poster may include pictures, graphs, tables, captions, headlines, etc. All posters should include the author’s abstract. Experience has shown that use of color in the poster presentations makes effective visual communications. Therefore, whenever possible, please use color photographs or graphs, and/or colored displays.
Pictures and Graphs
All pictures, graphs, and charts are suggested to be at least 8 inches (20.3 cm) x 10 inches (25.4 cm) in size. Present one idea per picture or graph, and include only important supporting information. Use drawings to illustrate non-visible entities in assembled objects, sequences of operation, relationships, and abstract ideas. Please use minimum words to convey your message.
Lettering
All posters lettering should be laser printed, typewritten, typeset, or have draftsman-quality hand lettering. The approximate sizes or lettering should be as follows:
· Title and author’s name → 1 ½ inches (28 mm),
· Author’s affiliation and heading → ¾ inch (19 mm),
· Text → 5/16 inch (8 mm) [please keep text to a minimum],
· Captions for photographs or graphs → ¼ inch (6.4 mm), and
· Lettering of graphs → 3/16 inch (4.7 mm).
Experience has shown that lettering of the sizes noted permits the posters to be readable from a distance of 5 to 6 feet (1.5 to 1.8 m), the distance that most observers stand from a poster panel.
Handouts
Those who wish to bring handout literature, or want to place equipment or artifacts on the display with their posters, should bring these materials with them.
Setting Up and Taking Down Your Poster Presentation
All presentations must be in place on their designated board by 1200 on Monday, September 19, 2022.
Posters must be removed by 1300 on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.
Any posters or materials remaining after that time will be discarded.
